20 teabags? more like 10!

February 20th, 2009 at 06:47 am

When I got home today I opened a brand new packet of Chai Tea to sip on while I checked my emails. The box was kind of light, and I counted the teabags. 10! I did a double count, and then had to keep checking the box, as it clearly says 20 tea bags, 50grams.
Obviously it's a human or machine error, I'm not too upset about it. I sent off an email to Lipton and asked how they were going to rectify it.
I know it's only some tea bags, but they cost about $3.99 for a box, so I don't want to let it go that easily.

It made me think though, I don't normally count things in bags. I should do it more often just to see how many times things are screwed up.

In the past, I complained about a rock I found in some chocolate. Cadbury sent me a massive box fill of chocolates, all types. It was great! Of course I'm not the type that expected it, and I would never 'fake' something like that. But it was great all the same.

I had two bras that the hook things snapped, made by Bonds. I wrote a letter of complaint and mailed the bras back, and I got two new ones sent back to me.

It's one thing I do appreciate when being a customer, if a company DOES make good, I will of course continue to use them. It shows that they care.

So fingers crossed I atleast get my ten teabags sent to me! I would 100% be happy if they just sent me that. Smile

That might send you a coupon for free box of tea. That would work, too.

I found an opened granola bar in a package once, wrote the company and got a coupon for free box. I'm sure it was machine error. It happens. It is nice when the compensate accordingly.

    Good luck.

I hope they send a full box to replace the half box!

Good for you for doing that! Most consumers just write it off!

I bet Lipton will make it up to you. Did you include any batch numbers from the box for them? I always do that, in case they need to check or track a segment of production....General Mills mailed my Dad a case(!) of cold breakfast cereals when he informed them of a little problem....Revlon once wrote me a snarky answer to a mildly worded letter of complaint about a product.

I would have probably taken it back to the store right away if possible. I think Lipton will send you a new box or coupon, etc. They kind of owe it to you.

Thats gross about the rock in the chocolate. At least Cadburry tried hard to make it up to you.

I should send my brand new VS bra back, the underwire is coming out. I would probably get more satisfaction than taking it back to the store. I can't find the receipt anyway, probably shredded it in my attempt to keep my office clean! I did get it on sale.

homebody: i didnt have reciepts for the bonds bras. i bought them when they were on sale and stashed them for future use, so i had probably bought them two months before i started wearing them. still worked out though. i urge you to send them back!

As a kid, I remember looking at the six packs of soda bottles at the grocery store (Coke, Pepsi, RC Cola), and being amazed that the level of soda in the RC Cola bottles was all over the place. The inconsistency really astounded me at the time.
