Amy ideas?

May 24th, 2011 at 07:25 am

As I mentioned in my previous post, we had a lot of help with our wedding party. Mainly family but also a few friends contributed too. They were happy to, but I also wanted to get a few thankyou gifts. One couple are notoriously hard to buy for as they have everything they could possibly ever want. For that reason, I was thinking of going with a nice bag of freshly ground organic coffee. For others I was going to go along the lines of chocolate, more coffee and for a few who are mothers, a natural bath soak concoction. I am running out of ideas though, and DH is never the one to ask about these things, he just shrugs his shoulders and says he doesn't know. Any ideas??

Here's my brain storm on the subject: gift certificate to a local restaurant, wine, gourmet or homemade cookies (you bake don't you?), certificate to a local store or event, a framed wedding picture of both of you, a unique handmade item (maybe fair trade type item)....

Good luck and what a nice thought! However, I'm sure none of these individual are expecting anything. They helped you out of love.

If I had helped out, I would rather get a written on paper thank-you rather than an in-kind gift. Really. I suppose the sincere, hand written note is the rarer gem these days anyway.

Joan - I am doing hand written thank you cards to everyone who came. However, there are a few individuals who helped enourmously and without them the event wouldn't have been the same. (Two friends were basically 'wedding photographers' and I didn't see them NOT taking photos the whole night, DH's aunt, mum & grandma did ALL of the setting up in the morning and all of the decorations, my mum made a lot of the entree/fingerfood as well as another friend, and DH's uncle was a highly organised MC for the night). SO for everyone else, they will get a handwritten card, and for the few who contributed much more energy we were going to give them a little something extra. Smile

Congrats, whitestripe! I think you are on the right track with your ideas...
